My Days in India Part 3
Just a while ago, I was invited to my co-worker’s House Warming
Event in Greater Noida, a 15 minute drive from my home in Noida.
Though on the invitation card it said “house warming”, it was quite
different from any house warming I’ve ever been to. The house
was full of friends and family members with a lot of Hindi chanting,
music and singing. These rituals are usually called Griha Pravesh
Pooja, a ceremony to offer thanks to God and to ward off any future
troubles or miseries.
Was wonderful to be a part of an event to wish a family for their peaceful good life in their new home.

ちょっと前に、仕事の同僚の「ハウス・ウォーミング」に誘われ、
現在滞在しているノイダから車で１５分離れたグレ―タ―ノイダへ
行ってきました。
招待状には「ハウス・ウォーミング」と書いてあったのですが、
今まで経験したことのないハウス・ウォーミングでした。大勢の
友達と家族が一斉にヒンディー語でチャンティングや音楽と歌を
披露しました。このような行事はグリハ・プラベッシュ・プージャと
よばれ、神様への感謝を示すためと将来のトラブルや災いを払い除けるためのもの。
新居に入る家族の安全をみんなで願うイベントはとても素敵でした。
